BEHIND THE LENS
In 2008, while on rest-and-recuperation leave from a 15-month tour in Iraq, I took two weeks and went to the big island of Hawaii. I had a point-and-shoot camera with me and got some pretty decent snapshots for memories of the trip, but it wasn't capturing what I wanted it to. Shortly thereafter I invested in my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel XSi (really showing my age here), and took more than 20,000 shots over the next few years, learning the art of things like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.
After squeezing every bit of performance out of that camera, I purchased my first full-frame DSLR in 2011, a Canon 5D Mark II. Fast forward to today, and I've found an opportunity to give people a glimpse of how I see the world. This page is a realization of an idea I had years ago, to share the world through my eyes.
I have been honored to be a working professional photographer and designer for over two years. I am a licensed Part-107 Small UAS pilot and an Army veteran.
My skills include Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, After Effects, and Luminar. Canon is my platform of choice, with my primary body being the R5. I mainly fly a DJI Phantom 4 Pro V.2 for aerial footage.
